Summer 2020 – UPDATE
We are planning to reopen for the 2020-21 school year; however, we will be implementing additional safety and sanitation protocols in order to keep our preschoolers, their families, and our staff as safe as possible. We will provide each family with these protocols before school begins. **Preschool is unique in that it promotes socialization, sharing, cooperation, exploring, playing in centers, etc. Social distancing is not on the list of what parents have come to love about preschool, so while we’ll be implementing additional opportunities for children to wash their hands, increased sanitation during the preschool morning and after dismissal, taking temperatures, etc., daily, we simply won’t be able to social distance preschoolers within a specific classroom. We will do our very best to avoid multiple classrooms from interacting – one class at a time on the playground, etc.
On 7/14, Governor Cooper extended Phase Two through Friday, August 7th, so our third week of summer camp is cancelled.
The preschool office is open over the summer, so please call if you have any questions: (336) 764-8645. I will continue to register students for the upcoming preschool year, so please call the office or email me: email@example.com
* Preschool Registration: Registration is now open to the public for fall 2020.
We are currently enrolling students for 2’s, 3’s, 4’s and 5’s who are not yet enrolled in Kindergarten. Some of our classes are full but we do have some openings; 3’s are the most limited. Please see registration information below ↓.
About Midway UMC Preschool
We offer one-half day preschool (8:30 am – Noon) for ages 2 – 5. Each student must be the age of his/her class by August 31. We follow the Davidson County School calendar for vacations and days off. See the attached Preschool Brochure for more information about our program, tuition, and days/classes offered. A Registration Form for 2020-21 is attached; however, please call for availability. We’re happy to enroll a child anytime during the preschool year if we have an opening.
Our program started as a two-day Play School in the 1960’s and has evolved into a five-day Preschool, where our goal is to help prepare children not only for kindergarten but a lifetime of learning, through a variety of age appropriate activities that are fun, exploratory, academic, physical, and sometimes messy! We provide a loving, Christian environment where we are able to share the good news of Jesus!
We have been serving both Davidson and Forsyth Counties for over 50 years! Even though we are located in Midway, our 2019 preschool graduates are currently enrolled in 11 different elementary/private schools in both counties. We are so thankful to all of our preschool families who recommend our program to their family, friends, and neighbors.
Summer Camp: Each summer we offer three weeks of summer camp: one week in June, one week in July and one week in August. Camp is open to potty-trained 3’s through rising 5th graders. Each week has a unique theme, and the final Friday in August is our outside water fun day. We rent a water slide and have other outdoor activities. Our brochure from last summer is linked below so you can learn more about our camps. We’ll publish dates and themes as soon as they are available. The school closure has caused a delay in these decisions.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR FALL 2020: Preschool Registration for the 2020-21 school year is now ‘Open to the Public’. A frequent q uestion, “When is the deadline to enroll?” There is no deadline to enroll per se, but we do recommend registering early because classes fill up fast and by the time school begins in late August, we’re usually on waitlist for most classes.
We’re currently working on planning Summer Camp 2020 and will post an updated brochure soon. Here are our 2020 camp dates:
June: 15 – 19 – CANCELLED due to Covid-19
July: 13 – 17 – CANCELLED due to Covid-19
August: 3 – 7
Dates to Remember
Is currently ‘Open to the Public’. We expect to be on waitlist across all age groups when school begins in late August. Please register early to secure your spot. Several classes are already on waitlist. *We are planning to open for a new preschool year the week of August 24th, with special accommodations to help keep staff and students as safe as possible. These measures will be given to all families prior to our start date.
Class and Spring Pictures: Available to pick-up now in the preschool office.
4’s Cap & Gown Pictures: If you haven’t already pick-up proofs, they are available in the preschool office. The first order will be given to the photographer on Monday, July 20. You may still order after the 20th, but your order will be slightly delayed.
* Davidson Co. Schools voted to begin school on Monday, August 17, 2020, and preschool will begin one week later:
Monday, August 24: Preschool Open House: We will not be able to have a traditional open house, but will advise of an alternate plan before school begins.
Tuesday, August 25: First day for students; however, we may need to have a staggered start, as we will be implementing various safety protocols and using specific entrances for age groups.
